Dr Benjamin Tsofa

Dr Benjamin Tsofa is a health systems and policy researcher at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme. He initially trained and worked as a clinical dentist, before moving into public primary health management and later health policy systems research.

His research intrests are in health systems governace, health financing and health policy analysis - with a special intrest in health sector resource allocation, priority setting, planning and budgeting. His DrPH, from LSHTM focused on the effects of political decentralisation in Kenya on county level health sector planning and budgeting.

Currently, as a Principal Research Officer at KEMRI, Dr Tsofa co-leads the health systems governance research at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme, as well as serving as the Centre Director of the KEMRI Centre for Geographic Medicine Research - Coast, in Kilifi Kenya. In addition, he also sits in several Technical Advisory Comittees at the National Ministry of Health in Kenya, where he provides technical assistance in several health systems strengthening initiatives and general health policy formulation and implemation at both the county and national level.file://localhost/Users/Becky/Downloads/Dr.%20Benjamin%20Tsofa,ADMIN.JPG
