Dr Walaiporn Patcharanarumol has a BSc in Pharm from Khon Khaen University, Thailand (1992), MSc in Health Development from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand (1998), MSc in Social Protection Financing from Maastricht University, the Netherlands (2003) and a PhD in Public Health and Policy, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (2008).
Her PhD thesis is “Health Care Financing for the Poor in Lao PDR”. She had experiences in public hospitals of Thailand for several years and has been a researcher in health care financing at the International Health Policy Programme since 2001. Her fields of interest are on hospital costing, National Health Accounts, estimation of health expenditures both in short term and long term projection and Universal Health Coverage, in particular the Universal Health Coverage Scheme in Thailand. During August 2011 – April 2012, she was seconded by the Thai Government to work at WHO-HQ, Department of Health System Financing.
